Large crowd enjoys Hawke's Bay weanling walk

Well, we did suggest a couple of weeks ago that Hawke's Bay is the perfect location for a winter sojourn. It seems quite a few people took our advice and joined a most enjoyable NZTBA Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay branch Weanling Walk, held in superb weather last Sunday.

Branch secretary Graham Roddick estimates an attendance of around 120 people, some from as far south as Featherston, Woodville and Palmerston North, to inspect 21 weanlings at four farms. Graham says, "I think a feature of the crowd was the large number of new faces talking of becoming involved in racing and breeding."

Lunch at Sileni Estates was fully booked with 80 members and guests, including six major stud representatives. Says Graham, "All in all a fantastic day was had by everyone judging by the after match comments."
