Little Avondale have closed Per Incanto’s book ahead of the forthcoming breeding season, with the proven son of Street Cry now fully booked.
“Per Incanto’s had an exceptional season, particularly in Australia and Hong Kong,” Little Avondale Stud Master Sam Williams said.
“His runner to winner ratio in Australia is 70 percent this season and he is getting those runners from his better credentialed mares.
“As an example, Group One winner Bonham is from a Redoute’s Choice mare while Gr.1 New Zealand Oaks (2400m) runner-up Charms Star’s is the first foal of a dual stakes winning mare.”
The son of Street Cry leads the Hong Kong and Singapore sires premiership for winners, while results across the Tasman have been strong, headed by Everest candidate Lost And Running, winner of last week’s Listed Luskin Star Stakes (1300m), while Charms Star ran a blinder at her first start for Chris Waller, placing third in the Gr.2 The Roses (2000m) at Doomben on Saturday.
A Per Incanto weanling colt from the Shadwell dispersal fetched $500,000 at the Gold Coast last week, while the popular stallion was the sire of the second top lot at the recent New Zealand Bloodstock weanling sale at Karaka, with Riversley Park outlaying $110,00 for a colt from Mandalong Belle.
“We always knew how well his progeny sold but it wasn’t until after the sales this year when we sat down and analysed his results since day one that we realised just how well,” Williams said.
“To average over 11 times his service fee across all Australasian horses in training and yearling sales, over eight seasons, is quite astonishing.”
