2006 Bomac Lecture Series begins 30 July

Trainers, farriers, vets, stud & stable grooms, studmasters, breeders, equestrians: here's an opportunity to hear the latest information and research on the equine foot from internationally renowned veterinary researcher Professor Chris Pollitt and leading Australian farrier Richard Hansen. This highly experienced and respected team from Queensland, Australia will bring you the latest understanding on the structure of the equine foot, how it functions, the things that can go wrong, and ways that these diseases and injuries can be treated.

Professor Chris Pollittis widely regarded as the world's leading researcher on hoof science and heads the University of Queensland's Equine Laminitis Research Unit. His colour textbook Colour Atlas of the Horse's Foot has been reprinted four times and has been published in German, Japanese and Spanish editions.
In 1997 Chris was inducted into American Farriers International Hall of Fame for his contributions to education on the horse's foot. The same year, he received the RIRDC-Vetsearch Equine Research Award as Equine Researcher of the Year for laminitis studies, and in 2003 received the Pfizer Scientific Award.

Richard Hansenis President of the Australian Farriers and Blacksmiths Association, and is a practising farrier in the Samford Valley area, north-west of Brisbane. He has won the High Point Award in every Australian state where competitions are held; was a top 10 finalist at the 2003 World Championship Blacksmithing Championships in Calgary, Canada; and was the 2004 Australian High Point Champion.
Richard has also judged many competitions both in Australia and New Zealand.
