Waikato Stud will again be in the thick of the action when the 2015 New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Award winners are honoured in Hamilton next month.
Their leading sire Savabeel will be crowned with both the Grosvenor Award and the Dewar Stallion Trophy on August 13 while his late associate sire O'Reilly or current resident Pins will win the Centaine Award.
Stud patriarch Garry Chittick is also nominated for the Breeder of the Year Award for the Group One deeds of the farm graduates Sacred Falls, Costume, Diademe and I Do.
Graham and Helen-Gaye Bax (breeders of Lucia Valentina and Pasadena Girl), Dominic Li's IDL Breeding ltd (Volkstok'n'barrell, Suavito) and Paul and Cushla Smithies' Monovale Holdings (Platinum Witness, Puccini) have also been nominated for the breeders' crown.
A trio of outstanding broodmares - Exodus, Mica's Pride and Parfore - will do battle for the Broodmare of the Year Award.
Exodus is the dam of the Group One-winning international sprinter Aerovelocity; Mica's Pride is the mother of the top-flight winner Criterion while Parfore's sons Terravista and Tiger Tees have each won at the highest level.
