New Zealand's latest Group One-winning mare is almost certain to be given the opportunity to collect a perfect pair.
With a top-flight victory on her domestic CV, Perfect Fit is being aimed toward the Queensland winter carnival and the prospect of significantly boosting her future off track value for owners Haunui Farm.
"We're giving strong consideration to one or maybe two starts over there and targeting the Winter Stakes," studmaster Mark Chitty said.
The Group One feature, run as the Tatts Tiara in recent years, is a 1400 metre event for fillies and mares on June 25.
"To get Australian black type would be a big, big positive – we did it with Full Of Spirit and we did it with Floria so hopefully we can do it with this mare as well," Chitty said.
Perfect Fit capped her meteoric rise to the top with success in the NZ Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes at just her 11th career appearance for trainers Ken and Bev Kelso.
"She's only had three runs since Boxing Day and she's come through the Te Aroha race pretty well," Chitty said.
"She'll be having 10 to 14 days in the paddock and as long as she continues to please Ken and Bev then she'll be going to Queensland. There's a flight on May 22.
"She won't race here and she could have a preparatory run over there – there's a few options.
"We won't be trying to attack anything after that in the spring. She has previously indicated that she's not really a spring mare so we don't need to be getting her back up for anything either here or in Melbourne."
The winner of six races, Perfect Fit is the daughter of former Haunui resident Elusive City out of the Group One-winning mare Fayreform.
"We've also got a Showcasing two-year-old filly out of the mare who is just going into pre-training now," Chitty said. – NZ Racing Desk.
