Thoroughbred Breeding Courses
These Equine breeding courses have been instigated and designed by Thoroughbred Studs of the Waikato. The content of the courses is what industry leaders have recognised to be the most important skills and knowledge required to succeed in a career in the Thoroughbred Breeding Industry. The courses run once a fortnight from late March through to early September. Classes last for 3 hrs from 4.00 -7.00 and have speakers from studs, equine veterinary practices as well as farriery, pasture and feed specialists.
Workplace Safety
The General Skills course is a must for all people working on the land with ATV's, Tractors and animals. It covers the practical training in riding ATV's and Tractors, Basic Animal Handling Skills as well as Hazard Identification Procedures. With the introduction of new Health & Safety Laws in 2015 it is advisable that all staff working on your property have done this course. This course involves 5 non consecutive days off the farm to complete, or if you have 6 staff to enrol we can tailor a package, delivered on your farm to suit your needs.
Rural Staff Management
This course is recommended for all aspiring and current supervisors, managers or employers who are responsible for staff. It covers; your legal responsibilities as an employer, how to manage your staff effectively, tips on making good recruitment decisions and how to develop skills to build a high performing team that is motivated, productive and profitable.
This course requires 5 days of workshops spread over 6 months but we are flexible to the needs of your business.
