Platonic takes out the Chester Manifold Stakes

Platonic (Trustful-Mikis by Noble Bijou) has presented plenty of challenges to her owner-breeders Chris & Glen Dillon and trainer Graham Richardson but, as the ad says, she's worth it.

Yesterday she added a second Melbourne stakes race to her record when she took out the VRC Chester Manifold S. 1400m LR, defeating Bush Padre by three-quarters of a length.

This was Platonic's tenth win from 22 starts and took her stake-earnings to $A225,250, on top of $142,825 earned in New Zealand. It was her fourth black type win after earlier victories in the WRC Cuddle S. G3, VATC TBV Summoned S. LR and Matamata Cup LR. Platonic, who rtaces as It's Platonic across the Tasman, also ran a very fine second to fellow Kiwi-bred mare La Bella Dama in last spring's MVRC Tesio S. G3 and was third behind Honor Bound and Sequel in the ARC Highview Stud Trophy G2 at Ellerslie last month. Yesterday's win was the first for Graham Richardson from his new satellite stable at Mornington.

Platonic's pedigree is full of highly competitive and capable performers such as her grand-dam Anita Kay (11 wins), Kiss Me Kate (8 wins), Belle Camille (8 wins) and Sudden Change (14 wins) as well as Australian G2 winner Aquidity (17 wins) and Sydney SW Too Darn Hot (6 wins).

Since foaling Platonic in 1995 Mikis has produced four foals:
1997 Mikis Prospector (NZ B.g. by Personal Escort). Winner at 1400m in 2001-02, Pinjarra RC Maiden P.
1998 Kiss and Run (NZ B.f. by The Jogger). Raced twice.
1999 Unnamed (NZ B.c. by Personal Escort).
2000 Unnamed (NZ B.f. by Tristaking).
