NZTBA OVERSEAS TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP

Since 2006 each year the K.I.A. Taylor Charitable Trust, associated with the Taylor family, owners of Trelawney Stud, Cambridge, has generously funded a Scholarship for a person to attend the Irish National Stud Diploma Course. Since 2015 the scholarship is now known as the Keith and Faith Taylor Equine Scholarship and provides the successful candidate with:

  • Five months at the Irish National Stud, beginning on 14th January 2019. The successful candidate will need to arrive in Ireland by the 12th January.
  • Return economy airfare
  • Fees for the National Stud Diploma course
  • Accommodation
  • Cash advance for personal expenses

The Scholarship is open to any person aged 30 or under (as at 31 December 2018) who is interested in furthering their career in the thoroughbred breeding industry. Ideally, the successful applicant will have previous work experience on a thoroughbred stud in New Zealand. Conditions apply.

NZTBA INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

The successful applicant will receive an all-expenses paid, bonded trip of 30 weeks, experiencing the operational infrastructure, systems and management of three of the Northern hemisphere's leading stud farms: one in England, Coolmore Stud in Ireland and Taylor Made in Kentucky.

The Scholarship aims to identify existing and potential managers within the New Zealand thoroughbred industry, offer them an opportunity to broaden their knowledge and experience, and highlight the diverse career options available within the international bloodstock business.

Criteria: Applicants require a good general knowledge of the thoroughbred industry, and experience in the management and handling of horses of all ages. Suitable for those wishing to develop a long-term career within the New Zealand thoroughbred industry.

Ryan Stacey is awarded Irish National Stud Scholarship

The NZTBA is pleased to announce that Ryan Stacey has been awarded the Keith and Faith Taylor Family scholarship to study at the Irish National Stud in 2019.

Stacey will leave New Zealand in January to undertake the world renowned Thoroughbred Breeding Course at the famous nursery.

“We had a number of very strong applicants this year, the calibre of the applicants was excellent and anyone of them could have represented us in Ireland,” said Justine Sclater NZTBA Business Development and Operations Manager, who manage the scholarships and select the
candidates.

“It was so pleasing to see so many young people with a passion for the thoroughbred industry wanting to improve their skills and apply for the scholarship. Ryan’s enthusiasm really stood out and we are confident he will represent New Zealand well and will benefit a great deal from
the Irish National Stud Thoroughbred Breeding Course.” Read More...
