Rich Hill Stud has been eagerly awaiting the first foals of the former champion performer Jimmy Choux and they haven't been disappointed. The Walton farm on the outskirts of Matamata have welcomed a stunning duo with the recent arrivals of a son and a daughter of the charismatic Thorn Park stallion.
"His two foals born so far are remarkably similar," stud principal John Thompson said. "They are both well-balanced bays with quality and a very athletic appearance. It is an exciting time for us as not many farms get to stand a champion Australasian racehorse who won five Group One races."
Jimmy Choux fashioned an outstanding record during a stellar career from the Hastings stable of John Bary. He won the Gr.1 NZ 2000 Guineas, NZ Derby and the Rosehill Guineas as a three-year-old and trained on at four to claim top honours in the Gr.1 Spring Classic and the Gr.1 Windsor Park Plate before finishing runner-up in the Gr.1 Cox Plate.
Acknowledged as New Zealand's Horse of the Year in 2010-11, he was retired to Rich Hill Stud in 2012 and was well-received by breeders with a quality book of 110 mares. Jimmy Choux stands at a service fee of NZ$10,000 + GST alongside Pentire (NZ$22,500 + GST), Shocking (NZ$12,000 + GST) and Any Suggestion (NZ$7500 + GST).
