2014 Stallion Register now available

The much anticipated NZTBA Register of Thoroughbred Stallions of New Zealand has been released for 2014.

The glossy 164 page highly sort after annual book has just been published for the 41st time by the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders' Association as a guide to the stallions available for the 2014 breeding season.

It is a must for any breeder whether they are a commercial breeder or own just one mare, and provides vital information to guide breeders in the important investment decisions they must make each year to sustain New Zealand's successful thoroughbred breeding industry.

It features comprehensive statistical data crucial to the industry including sire premierships – both local and international, fertility figures, sales averages, Award winners, industry statistics and a host of other useful information.

Featuring a magnificent shot of the champion sire O'Reilly on the front cover it lists nearly all the stallions currently standing at stud in New Zealand including the five first season sires; Dial A Prayer, Ferlax, Jakkalberry (IRE), Shamexpress and Sweet Orange (USA). In the main section of the book 87 stallions are featured with a colour photograph, full pedigree details, and their stud and race records, while a further three stallions feature those details without a photograph, and two stallions have half page full extended pedigree details.

Sections in the Register include stallions listed in alphabetical order, under the sire's name, under their service fee, and in their regions. Maps of the studs in the various regions are also included.

It also features a list of the studs in New Zealand and the people involved in the industry throughout the country from stud masters, agistment farm operators, NZTBA head office and branch personnel, bloodstock agents, transport operators, and industry administrators.

The register is available from the NZTBA at a cost of $135. If you are considering buying one, it is part of the Association's subscription fee of only $165.00 and becoming a member is a considerable advantage because of the other benefits offered to members.

The NZTBA was established in New Zealand in 1948 with the aim to encourage, promote, advance generally and ensure co-operative efforts in all matters pertaining to the production and improvement of the Thoroughbred and the interests of Thoroughbred breeders.

It currently has over 1700 members throughout the country, and is still one of the largest per capita Thoroughbred Breeders' Association's in the world. There are eight regional branches throughout the country providing members with social and networking opportunities, raceday promotions, newsletters, educational seminars, stud tours, foal walks, Awards evenings, golf tournaments and other activities

The annual fee to join the NZTBA is only $165.00 and as well as the Stallion Register members also receive a copy of the A-Z Members' Diary, and raceday swingers which provide free admission to most New Zealand racecourses.

The NZTBA is also actively involved in liaising with the Government on issues concerning equine health, biosecurity, ACC, plus employment and taxation matters. The Association works closely with and has representation on other industry bodies involved in the thoroughbred industry.
