PAST NZTBA SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

2010 NZTBA OVERSEAS TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP

In 2006 the K.I. A. Taylor Charitable Trust, associated with the Taylor family, owners of Trelawney Stud, Cambridge, generously committed to funding a Scholarship for three years. The Scholarship, known as the Keith Taylor Equine Scholarship provides the successful candidate with:

Five months at the Irish National Stud
, beginning in February 2010.  The Scholarship covers:

  • Return economy airfare
  • Fees for the National Stud Diploma course
  • Accommodation
  • Cash advance for personal expenses

The Scholarship is open to any person aged 25 or under (as at 31 December this year) who is  interested in furthering their career in the thoroughbred breeding industry. Ideally, the successful applicant will have previous work experience on a thoroughbred stud in New Zealand.

2010 NZTBA INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

The NZTBA International Management Scholarship is funded by the Sunline Education Trust, launched at the 2002 NZTBA Auckland dinner to honour New Zealand’s champion racemare. Several New Zealand stud farms generously donated stallion services for auction, and the proceeds established a fund now administered by the Trust.

The Scholarship aims to identify existing and potential managers within the New Zealand thoroughbred industry, offer them an opportunity to broaden their knowledge and experience, and highlight the diverse career options available within the international bloodstock business.

Applicants require a good general knowledge of the thoroughbred industry, and experience in the management and handling of horses of all ages. This bonded, all-expenses paid scholarship is suitable for those wishing to develop a long-term career within the New Zealand thoroughbred industry.

Applications for both NZTBA Scholarships close on Thursday 22nd October 2009
