BRANCH HISTORY
Since the establishment of Trelawney Stud near Cambridge in 1930, the Waikato has grown in stature and achievement to become one of the world's premier thoroughbred breeding regions.
Champions bred on its lush pastures include Tulloch, Battle Heights, Balmerino, Red Anchor, Beau Zam, Octagonal, Might And Power, Sunline & Starcraft. Waikato-bred Melbourne Cup winners include Macdougal, Light Fingers, Galilee, Gurner's Lane, Empire Rose, Let's Elope, Jezabeel & Ethereal.
The Waikato is home to New Zealand's current "Big Three" studs (Cambridge, Waikato & Windsor Park), as well as many of the country's most successful other commercial studs, and private breeding operations.
