Here’s a list of thoroughbred breeding and racing websites – some fun, some more serious – that we think are worth visiting.
*Check out the list of Recommended Sites on the main NZTBA website.
*Let us know any good new sites you find that we should include here.

Horsefun http://horsefun.com
Quizes, puzzles, facts, stories and the Horse Lovers Club – this is a good site for kids who love horses and ponies.
Racing Through The Century www.thoroughbredtimes.com/racingthroughcentury/rtc_intro.asp
A clearly written history of US thoroughbred racing from 1900-2000 by racing historian Mary Simon. A good resource for older students who want in-depth information on this topic.
Bronwen Healy Photography
www.ausracing.net.au/bronnie.htm
Bronwen is one of our favourite people in racing – she loves the sport and the horses, and is a wonderful photographer. Her gallery includes some of the best photos of racehorses you’ll see anywhere. Check out her shots of New Zealand-bred champions Octagonal, Might And Power and Sunline.
New Zealand Equine Academy
www.nzracing.co.nz/equineacademy/academy.htm
If you want to be a jockey this is the place to start: the Academy offers a comprehensive pre-apprenticeship programme, the Certificate in Horse Racing.
There's an excellent Racegoer's Dictionary on the Sydney Turf Club site: www.stc.com.au/racing/glossary.htm Some of the terms eg Principal Club, Saddling Enclosure are not used in New Zealand but most words apply in both countries. Includes a photographic guide to the points of the horse.
